1998 United States embassy bombing

Okay, kiddo, so in 1998 there was a big explosion that happened near the United States embassy in a place called Nairobi in Africa. A lot of people got hurt and some even died because of the explosion.

Now, you might be wondering why this happened. Well, some people who didn't like the United States were angry and wanted to hurt them. They used a truck filled with explosives to make the big BOOM. It was a really bad thing to do and many people were very upset about it.

After the embassy was bombed, the United States worked hard to figure out who did it and why. They found out that a group called Al Qaeda was responsible. Al Qaeda is a group of people who believe in hurting others to get what they want. The leader of Al Qaeda, a man named Osama bin Laden, was very happy that the bombing happened.

Thankfully, some brave people helped those who were hurt during the bombing, and they were able to get medical care. The United States also tried to help by sending aid to the people of Nairobi.

In the end, the bombing was a terrible thing that happened, but we can learn from it and work together to prevent things like this from happening again.
