ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

AQUA@home

Okay kiddo, listen up! Aqua@home is a program that helps scientists study the oceans.

Now you know that the Earth is mostly covered in water, right? And that water is called the ocean. But scientists don't know everything about the ocean yet, and they need help figuring some things out.

That's where Aqua@home comes in. It's a special program that regular people like you and me can download onto our computers. When we have it on our computers, it helps scientists at the University of Geneva in Switzerland process lots of data that they've collected about the ocean.

See, scientists use special tools to collect information from the ocean, like how salty it is or how warm it is. But all that info needs to be sorted and analyzed. That's what Aqua@home does. It takes that big pile of information and helps break it down into smaller, manageable pieces.

So when you and your family go to sleep at night, your computer can be hard at work crunching numbers and helping scientists learn more about the ocean. And that's pretty cool, isn't it?
