Action painting

Okay kiddo, so imagine you have a big piece of paper and a bunch of paint. Action painting is when you use your whole body to make a painting instead of just using a paintbrush. You might drip the paint onto the paper, flick it with your fingers, or even throw it onto the paper!

The idea behind action painting is that the process of making the painting is just as important as the finished product. The painter wants to show the energy and movement they put into the painting. They don't want it to look like they just sat down and painted calmly and carefully!

Some painters, like Jackson Pollock, are really famous for their action paintings. Pollock dripped and poured paint onto a big canvas on the ground while he danced and moved around the canvas. His paintings look like big, colorful webs of paint!

So, action painting is like using your whole body to create a piece of art. It's not just about making something pretty, it's about showing how you express yourself through movement and paint!
