Adam Czerniaków
Adam Czerniaków was a man who lived a long time ago in a place called Poland. He had a very important job during a time when Poland was in a lot of trouble.
You know how sometimes you have to make sure all your toys are put away and everything is clean? Well, Adam Czerniaków had a bigger job like that, but instead of toys, he had to make sure that a whole city was organized and working properly. This city was called Warsaw.
But there was something happening in Poland that made Adam's job really tough. Some people were being treated really unfairly and were being hurt because of who they were. These people were called Jews and they were being bullied by a group called the Nazis.
Adam Czerniaków was also Jewish, so he knew this was a very serious problem. He tried very hard to help the Jews in Warsaw and make sure they were safe. He also worked to make sure that everything in the city was running smoothly, even during a difficult time.
But eventually, the Nazis decided to do something really terrible. They told all the Jews in Warsaw that they had to live in a very small and cramped area called the ghetto. It was like putting all the toys in one tiny box instead of letting them play all over the room.
Adam Czerniaków was very worried about this and tried to help the people in the ghetto as much as he could. But things kept getting worse and worse. The Nazis wouldn't let people leave the ghetto to get food or medicine, and many people started getting sick and hungry.
Adam Czerniaków did everything he could to help the people in the ghetto, but eventually, he couldn't take it anymore. He was very sad and felt like there was nothing else he could do. So, he made a very hard decision to end his own life.
