Balkanization

Balkanization is when a large area or country is divided into smaller pieces or states. It can be caused by different cultures, ethnicities, politics, or religions. For example, after World War 2, the country of Yugoslavia was divided into several smaller countries like Croatia, Bosnia, and Serbia. This is an example of Balkanization.
