ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Binary code

Binary code is a way for computers to understand information. All information in a computer is made up of a series of 0s and 1s. 0s and 1s are called "bits" and these can be put together to make larger numbers. To put it simply, binary code is like a secret code that computers can understand to store and process information. For example, if you wanted to tell your computer that your name is Julie, the binary code for 'Julie' would be 01001010 01010100 01010101 01010100 01000101.
