A blastocyst is a very early stage of a baby's development. It is when a fertilized egg, which contains all of the genetic information for making a baby from two parents, divides and begins to grow. The blastocyst is a small ball-shaped group of cells. It is made up of an inner group of cells with an outer shell. Inside the inner cell group i there is a fluid-filled cavity. The blastocyst floats in the mother's uterus and attaches itself to the uterine wall. After attachment it continues to grow and develop until it is ready to be born as a baby.
