Bloody Sunday (1920)

Okay, imagine you and your friends are playing a game of tag in the park. Suddenly, some big, mean kids show up and start hitting you and your friends for no reason. This is what happened on Bloody Sunday in 1920 in a place called Ireland.

A long time ago, Ireland used to be ruled by another country called England. The Irish people didn't like this and wanted to be in charge of their own country. They wanted to be able to make their own rules and decisions. Some Irish people formed a group called the Irish Republican Army (IRA) and started fighting against England to try and get their independence.

On Bloody Sunday, a group of people called the Black and Tans, who were sent by England to help control the Irish people, went into a place called Croke Park. They started shooting and killing people who were watching a football game. This was very scary and unfair because the people at the football game were just having fun and not hurting anyone.

After Bloody Sunday, a lot of people in Ireland were very angry at England and the Black and Tans. The violence between the Irish people and the English got worse and it was a really tough time for everyone involved. Eventually, after many years of fighting, Ireland became its own country and people were able to make their own rules and decisions without outside influences.
