ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Brownfield land

Brownfield land is land that was once used for some type of industrial activity. Often, it has factories, warehouses, or other buildings on it, but it can also be just soil that may have been contaminated with things like chemicals or oil. It's like a big empty playground where nothing can grow. People can't live on it or use it, so it just sits there, waiting to be fixed. To fix it, people have to clean up the land and make sure it is safe for people to use, and that's what a brownfield project is all about.
