ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Child neglect

Child neglect is when a grown-up is not taking care of a child in the right way. It means that a child is not getting the things they need to be healthy and safe. Just like how you need food, water, and a safe place to live, children need those things too.

Neglect happens when a grown-up is not giving a child enough food to eat, or they are not making sure that the child is drinking enough water. Sometimes, a grown-up may not be giving a child a safe place to sleep or play. They might leave them alone for a long time, or not give them medicine when they need it.

All of these things can be very bad for a child's health and can make them sick. Children need grown-ups to take care of them and make sure they have everything they need to be healthy and happy. Otherwise, they might not grow up to be strong and healthy like they should be.
