Cleavage (embryo)

Cleavage is a process that happens in embryos. It's when a single large cell called a zygote starts to divide into many smaller cells. As the cell divides, the embryo develops. The parts of the embryo develop into the different parts of the baby - like the eyes, arms, legs, and heart. Cleavage helps the embryo grow and become a healthy baby.
