ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Combat sidestroke

Combat Sidestroke is a swimming stroke used to swim quickly, quietly and underwater without showing your head above water. It is similar to a normal swimming stroke (like the front crawl or the backstroke) except that you use both your arms and legs to move instead of just your arms. Your arms should move back and forth in front of you like a scissor, while your legs should kick like you were riding a bicycle. You can use your hands to help you steer and change direction. It is also good for swimming underwater for long distances which makes it useful for military operations.
