ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Competency-based learning

Competency-based learning is a type of learning where students learn based on being able to demonstrate that they understand and can do certain tasks. It is similar to regular learning in that students still learn knowledge and concepts, but in competency-based learning, students need to be able to show that they can do things like solve a math problem, draw a picture, or explain something. To do this, they might need to show a teacher their work or take a special test.
