Controlled language in machine translation

Machine translation is a way of using computers to translate words from one language into another. Controlled language is when you try to make the translated text simpler, or easier to understand, by limiting the vocabulary and grammar you use in the source text. So, when computers are asked to translate a sentence or phrase from one language to another, they will try to only use words that are chosen for being simple and easy to understand for people who don't know the original language. This helps to make sure that the translated text is understandable.
