ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Cordless telephone

A cordless telephone is like a regular phone that you use to talk to your friends and family, but it doesn't have a cord that connects it to the wall. Instead, it uses radio waves to communicate with a base station, which is plugged into the wall and connected to the telephone network.

When you want to make a call, you pick up the cordless phone and dial the number just like you would with a regular phone. The phone sends a signal to the base station, which then sends the call over the telephone network so that the person you want to talk to can hear you.

The cool thing about a cordless phone is that you can take it with you wherever you go in your home or yard. So, you don't have to stay in one spot to use it like you do with a regular phone that's connected to the wall.

The battery inside the cordless phone is what powers it, so make sure to charge it regularly or it won't work. And remember, just like with any phone, you should always ask an adult before making a call!
