Day-night average sound level

Sometimes we want to know how loud things are over a whole day or night. This is important because if things are really loud all the time, it can be bad for people and animals.

To find out the day-night average sound level we have to measure how loud things are at different times of day and night. We use a special machine called a sound level meter that can measure how loud things are in decibels (dB).
