ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Deglobalization

Hi there! So, deglobalization means that countries are starting to rely more on themselves instead of trading with other countries.

Remember when you were playing with your friends and you would share your toys? Well, countries do that too! They trade with other countries to get things they need, like food or toys. This is called globalization.

But sometimes, when countries rely too much on each other, it can cause problems. For example, if one country runs out of something they need, like medicine, and they can't get it from another country, they might be in trouble.

So some people think it's better for countries to make their own stuff and not rely on others so much. This is called deglobalization.

It's like when you're playing by yourself and you only use your own toys. You don't have to worry about asking your friends for things because you have everything you need right there.

But some people think deglobalization could cause problems too. If one country tries to make everything they need by themselves, they might not have enough resources or money to do it.

Just like how you might not have enough toys to play a game by yourself, a country might not have enough resources to make everything by themselves. So it's a tricky thing to figure out!

Does that make sense, kiddo?
