Deicing

Deicing is when we remove ice off of things like sidewalks, roads, and airplanes. Imagine if you have ever seen ice on a pond or a lake, sometimes it can be slippery and hard to walk on. Deicing helps us make those things safer for people to walk on or use.

When winter weather comes, snow and ice can build up on surfaces, causing them to become slick and dangerous. Just like how it's hard to walk on ice, it can also be hard for things like airplanes to fly when their wings have ice on them.

So, we use special tools and chemicals to remove the ice. Sometimes we use things like shovels or salt to break up the ice and make it easier to step on. Other times, we use machines like a snowplow to remove snow from the roads.

For airplanes, they use special sprays that melt the ice and prevent it from coming back. This is important because if a plane has ice on its wings, it can make it hard to control during takeoff and landing, which is not safe.

Deicing is really important because it helps keep people safe when they walk or drive on icy surfaces, and it helps airplanes fly safely in bad weather.
