Desert kite

Have you ever flown a kite before? It's so much fun! A desert kite is a bit different though. It's not made to be flown just for fun but actually for a very important purpose.

You see, a desert kite is used by people who live in the desert to catch animals like gazelles. Gazelles are really fast and hard to catch, so people had to come up with a clever way to catch them. That's where the desert kite comes in.

A desert kite is made up of two parts: the kite and the funnel. The kite is a big, flat piece of cloth or animal skin that is tied to a long string. It looks just like a regular kite that you fly, but much bigger. The funnel is a fence-like structure that is made up of long, thin sticks that are stuck into the ground. The sticks are arranged in a V shape, with the opening facing towards the kite.

Here's how it works. People who want to catch gazelles first find a good spot in the desert where the gazelles often run through. They then set up the funnel, with the opening facing towards the kite. Then, they fly the kite up in the air, really high. When the gazelles see the kite, they get scared and start running away. But, they always run towards the opening of the funnel. Once they get inside the funnel, they get trapped because they can't figure out how to get through the sticks.

Then, the people who set up the desert kite can go in and catch the gazelles easily because they're all trapped inside the funnel. It's a very clever way to catch animals in the desert!
