Distinctive ring

Okay, so you know how your phone rings when someone calls you? Well, sometimes people want to have more than one phone number on the same phone line. That means when someone calls, they need to know which number to call for the right person. So, a distinctive ring is a special kind of ringing sound that goes with each different phone number on the same phone line. That way, when the phone rings, you can hear which number (and which person) the call is for, just by the sound of the ring. It's like having different doorbells for different people who live in the same house!
