Dog clutch

Dog clutches are pieces of machinery used to connect two moving parts together and then break them apart again when the need arises. It's like a sort of mechanical version of Velcro. When two pieces have been connected together with a dog clutch, it's like they are stuck together until you turn a knob or push a button to break them apart. It's made of two pieces that fit together like two gears. Each piece has teeth, or points, that lock into each other when pushed together. When you twist the knob or push the button, the teeth move apart and the pieces can spin freely. Dog clutches are often used in tractors and other heavy machines.
