ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Economy of Afghanistan

So imagine you're playing with your toys and you have some money (maybe from chores you did or your allowance). The more money you have, the more toys you can buy, right?

Well, Afghanistan is like a big group of people who have things they make or grow that they sell to each other and to other countries. They use the money they make to buy things they need, like food, clothes, and toys.

But sometimes things happen that make it hard for Afghanistan to make money. One of these things is war. When there is a war, it can be very dangerous for people to make and sell things, and other countries may not want to buy things from Afghanistan. This means that not as much money is coming in, so people don't have as much to spend on things they need.

Another problem is that Afghanistan doesn't have as many resources as some other countries, like oil or minerals. This can make it harder to make money too. However, Afghanistan does have some valuable resources like opium, which is used to make drugs.

Overall, Afghanistan's economy is not as strong as some other countries, because of things like war and a lack of resources. But there are many people working hard to try to make things better and help Afghanistan's economy grow.
