Espionage is when someone tries to get secrets without people knowing they're getting secrets. It usually involves someone sneaking around and trying to looking at things or listening to private conversations, and it can sometimes involve using computers and technology. The people who do espionage are called spies and they can work for governments, companies, or private groups. They try and steal or learn things that should be secret, like military plans or private information about a business. It's illegal, and people can get in big trouble if they are caught.
