ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Functional block diagram

A functional block diagram is like a picture that helps grown-ups figure out how things work. It shows all the important parts of something and how they are connected. It's kind of like a map that helps you find your way.

Let's say you're trying to understand how a car works. A functional block diagram of a car would show all the different systems that are inside the car, like the engine, the transmission, the brakes, and the headlights. Each system would have its own little box on the diagram, and there would be lines connecting all the boxes to show how they work together.

In the box for the engine, there would be more little boxes that show things like the fuel system, the ignition system, and the cooling system. And in each of those boxes, there might be even more little boxes that explain how each part of the system works.

So basically, a functional block diagram is just a way of showing how all the parts of something fit together to make it work. It's like a really big puzzle that helps us understand how things are supposed to work.
