ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

GQM

GQM stands for Goal-Question-Metric. It is a process that helps people work together to make sure a project is successful. It helps figure out the best way to do something, and how to measure if it's successful.

To start, everyone involved in the project comes up with a goal. This could be something like “create a product that customers will love.”

Then, you want to figure out what questions you need to answer to help you reach the goal. For the example goal, some questions might be “what features should the product have?” or “how will we know if customers like it?”

Lastly, you want to decide what metrics, or measurements, you can use to answer those questions. For the “features” question, some possible metrics could be the number of features a product has, or how many customers like the features after trying it.

So GQM is about making sure a project has a goal, figuring out what questions are necessary to reach the goal, and deciding how best to measure if the goal has been met.
