Headgear

Headgear is something that you wear on your head to protect your face, jaw, and teeth. It looks like a hat or a helmet, but it is more special because it is made to protect your smile!

Headgear is used by people who need to straighten their teeth because they might have too much of an overbite or an underbite. This means that their top teeth might stick out too much, or their bottom teeth might be too far back in their mouth. Wearing headgear helps guide the growth of the jaw and teeth, so they can become straight and even.

The headgear is attached to braces or other orthodontic tools in the mouth. When you wear it, it pulls or pushes your teeth and jaw to where they need to go. You might wear it at certain times of the day or even while you sleep.

Headgear is important to wear because if you don’t, your teeth might not become straight and you could have more serious dental problems later on. So, even though it might feel weird or bulky to wear it, know that it’s helping make your smile even brighter and healthier in the long run!
