Holocaust

The Holocaust was a terrible time in history when millions of people were killed because of their race, religion or other beliefs. During this time, there were some very bad people called Nazis who wanted to get rid of anyone who wasn't the same as them. They targeted people like Jews, Roma (often called Gypsies), gays and lesbians, disabled people, and people from other religions and backgrounds. The Nazis used very cruel methods to try to get rid of them, like starvation, forced labor, torture, and gas chambers. These horrors were so terrible, it often makes people cry to think about them. Even today, historians and others do their best to remember and honor all the victims of the Holocaust.
