Human-in-the-loop

Human-in-the-loop refers to a way of using technology where a person is involved in the process. When we use technology, like computers or robots, we usually input some information, and the technology does the rest of the work for us. However, human-in-the-loop means that a person is not just inputting the information, but they are also involved in some way throughout the process.

Let's say there is a robot that helps us pick apples from a tree. The robot can identify which ones are ready to be picked and then pick them. But with a human-in-the-loop approach, there would be a person present who would help the robot by telling it which apples to pick and which ones to leave. This is because the robot might not be able to tell the difference between ripe and unripe apples, but the human's eyes can.

In other words, human-in-the-loop means that people and technology work together to achieve a goal. The person helps the technology by doing what it cannot do, and the technology helps the person by making their work easier and more efficient.
