ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Id (Unix)

Okay, so you know how sometimes you want to use the computer or play some games or even watch some videos? But the computer says "oh no, you can't do that!" You're probably wondering why, right? It's because the computer wants to know if you are really you before letting you do things. So it asks for your name, but sometimes other people have the same name as you, and that's confusing! So, the computer also gives you a special number called an "id" that is unique to you. It's like having a secret code that only you have, and that's how the computer knows it's really you! That's pretty cool, huh?
