Independence Day (India)

Now kiddo, you know how on your birthday, you feel really special because you were born on that day? Well, India also has a special day like that, and it's called Independence Day.

A long time ago, India used to be ruled by another country called England. India felt like they weren't being treated fairly, and they wanted to make their own decisions and have their own government. So they started a big movement called the Indian Independence Movement.

After many years of protesting, fighting, and negotiating, India finally became independent on August 15th, 1947. This means they got to make their own laws, have their own leaders, and be their own country!

And now, every year on August 15th, people in India celebrate their Independence Day. They have big parades, fly their national flag, and sing their national anthem. It's a special day for everyone in India to remember how they fought for their freedom and how far they have come.
