ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Interference (wave propagation)

Interference is what happens when two or more waves (like sound, light, radio, or water) meet up in the same place at the same time. When this happens, the waves combine to make a new wave that is different from the original. Think of it like throwing two different-sized stones into a pool of water: the waves move outward and overlap, making a new shape. That shape is interference.
