Journalistic interventionism is a type of reporting where journalists go beyond just covering news and events and take part in the actual happening. For example, a journalist may protest with a group to help draw attention to the cause. Or, they may investigate a story more deeply than originally planned and join the people they are covering in their activities. Journalists may also confront people they are interviewing to get more information out of them. In this way, they are “intervening” in the events they are covering to get more views and reactions.
