Manga iconography

Manga iconography is all about the pictures and symbols used in Japanese comics (called "manga"). Think of it like a secret language that manga artists use to tell stories and convey emotions without using any words at all.

Some of the most common manga icons include things like "sweat drops" to show when a character is feeling nervous or embarrassed, "teardrops" to show when they're sad, and "exclamation points" to show when they're surprised. Manga also often features exaggerated facial expressions, with big eyes and exaggerated mouth shapes to convey emotions more dramatically.

Manga artists also use symbols to convey meaning, such as a "rising sun" to represent Japan, or a "cherry blossom" to represent springtime or youth. They might also use traditional Japanese symbols like "shoujo" (which means "young girl") or "kawaii" (which means "cute").

All of these icons and symbols are part of what makes manga so unique and recognizable. By using them in their art, manga artists can communicate complex emotions and ideas to readers of all ages, without needing to rely on lots of text or dialogue.
