Megaliths in the Urals

Hey there little one! Today we’re going to talk about something called megaliths in the Ural Mountains!

So first of all, do you know what megaliths are? They are really big rocks that people used to make huge structures a long, long time ago.

The Ural Mountains are a big, long chain of mountains in Russia. A long time ago, thousands of years before you were born, people called the Komi lived there. They didn’t have all the cool things we have like phones and TVs, but they were really smart and they used megaliths to build big structures.

Now, why did they build these things? We don’t really know for sure. Some people think they were used for religious ceremonies, and others think they were used for something else entirely, like a kind of calendar to help them know when to plant crops.

The megaliths in the Ural Mountains are really cool because they are very tall and very heavy! In fact, some of them weigh more than a hundred tons! That’s like having 100 grown-ups standing on top of each other! They were able to move these big rocks by using wooden sledges and ropes to drag them along the ground.

So, next time you see a big rock, just think – maybe a long time ago some really smart people used it to make something amazing!
