Moral status of animals in the ancient world

In the ancient world, some people thought that animals did not have moral status, which means they did not think animals had any rights or deserved to be treated fairly. This meant that people in the ancient world often hunted and killed animals for food and resources, and they did not feel bad about it. Other people in the ancient world did think that animals had moral status and believed that they were important and should be respected. They usually tried to treat animals with care and kindness.
