ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

One-line diagram

A one-line diagram is like a picture of a big, complicated toy with lots of parts. But instead of showing all the parts, it just shows each part with one line. So you can see all the different parts and how they connect to each other without being overwhelmed by too much information. Just like when you draw a picture of a face and only need to draw one line for the nose, one line for the mouth, and one line for the eyes to show what the face looks like. In the same way, a one-line diagram shows all the important parts of something in a simple and easy-to-understand way.
