ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Operation Bolivar

Operation Bolivar was a big plan made by the government of Venezuela to stop illegal activities in the country. Imagine if you're playing soccer with your friends and one of them is playing unfairly by breaking the rules, like putting his hand on the ball instead of kicking it. That's not cool, right? Venezuela had some people who were doing similar things but with a more serious consequence for the country.

The government wanted to make sure that everyone played fair and legal, just like in soccer. Operation Bolivar was a big plan to try to stop those people who were not being fair and were hurting the country. This included people who were smuggling goods, drugs or weapons across the border, as well as those who were not paying their taxes.

So the government wanted to make sure that these people were caught and punished. They sent lots of police and army to different parts of the country and especially in the border areas. This was a little bit like when you have a big problem at home and you ask your family members to help you solve it. In this case, the government asked the police and army to help them solve the problem.

During Operation Bolivar, many people were caught and punished for the illegal activities they were doing. The good news is that the plan helped the country to become a safer and more honest place. And that's awesome, just like playing soccer fair and square!
