Patriot Act

The Patriot Act is a law passed by the United States Congress in 2001. It gave the government the power to look at people's records and personal information without their permission. It also allowed the government to look at records from banks, phone companies, and other organizations. The government can use these records to search for people they think might be involved in terrorism.
