ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Point process

A point process is a way of measuring how something happens over time, like counting how often something happens. For example, a point process might measure how many times a certain bird sings each day. It looks at the points in time that something happens and then tries to figure out if the thing is happening more or less often compared to any other point in time. It can help us understand how often something is happening and look for any patterns in when it happens.
