Portage railway

Okay kiddo, imagine you live in a place with a lot of things to send from one place to another, like fruits and vegetables from farms, or big boxes full of clothes or toys. You need a way to transport all these things quickly and easily.

Now imagine you have a big hill or mountain to cross to get to the place where you want to send these things. It would be difficult to carry goods up and down that hill, right? So people came up with an idea – the portage railway.

A portage railway is like a track or a road made of metal that runs up and down a hill or mountain. It has special trains that run on it, powered by engines that pull them up and down the hill. These trains have big cars or loads behind them that can carry all kinds of stuff.

So instead of carrying things up and down the hill, you load them onto the train cars and the train does the hard work for you! The portage railway can move a lot of things quickly and efficiently, and it's much easier than carrying things yourself.

Portage railways are used all over the world to transport goods up and down steep hills or mountains. They are an important part of many countries' transportation systems, and they help people move things easily and efficiently.
