Punti–Hakka Clan Wars
Punti-Hakka Clan Wars were like two groups playing a very big game of tag. The Punti and Hakka clans were two groups of people who lived in Southern China and they didn't really like each other.
Whenever they met each other, they would have arguments, fights and quarrels. It was like when you and your friends fight over who gets to play with a toy. Except their fight was really big and happened many, many years ago.
This fighting went on for a very long time, for many years, like a really long game of tag. Sometimes it was one group winning and sometimes it was the other. It was not ok though, it was very bad and many people got hurt, and sometimes even died.
But then a big man came, his name was Yuan Chonghuan. He wanted all the fighting to stop and for the two groups to get along. So, he tried to talk to both of them and helped them make a truce, like a really big time-out.
The Punti and Hakka listened to him, and they stopped fighting. From that point on, they got along much better – like when your mom makes you and your sister say sorry to each other after a big fight over crayons. And that is what happened with the Punti-Hakka Clan Wars.
