ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Realistic monism

Realistic monism is a way of looking at the world that is based on the idea that everything is made of the same thing. In other words, it is the idea that one thing is responsible for all the things in the world. This one thing is thought to be a single type of stuff that is real (not made up) and that has the ability to take many different forms or shapes. For example, this single type of stuff might be able to become a rock, a blade of grass, or even the thoughts in your head. This means that everything in this world can be traced back to this one thing.
