Reverse DNS lookup

A reverse DNS lookup is like having someone look up your address in the phone book. When you give someone your address, they can look it up in the phone book and find out who you are. But with a reverse DNS lookup, you can actually do the same thing with a computer!

Basically, a reverse DNS lookup is how a website or computer can figure out what the name of a computer is, just by its address. It's kind of like a phone book, but in reverse. For example, if you type in an address like "74.125.224.72" into a computer, it can use reverse DNS lookup to figure out that this computer is owned by Google.
