Ring laser gyroscope

A ring laser gyroscope is like a toy top that you spin around. But instead of being a toy, it helps airplanes and ships know which way they are going.

It has a special box that contains a ring-shaped laser built inside. When the laser is turned on, it goes around in a circle inside the box because it is reflected by mirrors.
