ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Robin Sage

Okay kiddo, have you heard of Robin Sage? Robin Sage is not a real person, she's actually a fake online persona that some people created. It's like dressing up as a superhero for Halloween, but instead of just dressing up, they created a whole fake persona online.

Now, creating fake personas might sound like fun, but it's actually not very nice. Some people use these fake personas to try and trick other people online into giving them personal information or doing things they shouldn't do. This is called social engineering.

Robin Sage was created by some people who wanted to see if they could trick people into giving them information. They made a fake Facebook account and pretended to be Robin Sage, a cybersecurity expert who worked for the US government. They posted things online that made it seem like Robin Sage knew a lot about cybersecurity and had important information. And guess what? A lot of people fell for it! They started chatting with Robin Sage and giving her information.

But don't worry, kiddo, the people who made up Robin Sage weren't trying to be mean. They were actually trying to help by showing just how easy it is for people to be tricked online. This is why it's really important to be careful about who you talk to online and what kind of information you share. Always be sure you are talking to a real person, and never give out personal information to someone you don't know.
