ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Spin label

Spin labels are tiny molecules that scientists put into things to help them study them. They have a special part called an atom which has spinning electrons that act like a spinning top. Scientists can use special kinds of machines (called NMR machines) to "hear" the spinning of the electrons, like listening to music! This helps scientists see how things like proteins and tissue in our bodies are working and how they're connected.
