Thermal design power

Thermal design power (TDP) is the amount of heat a computer's cooling system must be able to handle. It's based on how much power (measured in watts) the computer's components draw. If a computer is using more power than its cooling system can handle, it could overheat and shut off. This is why the TDP of a computer is so important, because it indicates how much cooling your computer will need.
