ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Tripod (photography)

A tripod is like a special stand that helps photographers hold their camera very still. It has three legs that stick out from the bottom and can be moved up or down to make it taller or shorter.

When a photographer takes a picture, they want the camera to stay in just one place so the picture comes out clear and not blurry. If they try to hold the camera with their hands, it can shake a little bit and make the picture blurry.

But a tripod helps fix that problem by holding the camera super still. The photographer sets up the tripod, puts their camera on top of it, and adjusts it until it is pointing exactly where they want it to. Then they hit the button to take the picture!

The tripod makes sure that the camera doesn't move at all, so the picture comes out looking very clear and crisp. It's a great tool for photographers who want their pictures to look their best!
