Deepfakes are videos or images that have been created or altered using artificial intelligence and computer programming. They look like real people, but are not real. Deepfakes are made by taking existing images or recordings of a person and swapping those with new images or recordings of someone else. This makes it look like the new person said or did something that they actually didn't. This is done by using special computer programs to make the new images or recordings look and sound like the real person.
