ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

embedded programming

Embedded programming is like giving instructions to a machine. It's a bit like writing a recipe, but instead of giving instructions on how to make an apple pie, you are giving instructions on how to make a computer do something. For example, you might want a computer to turn on a light when it gets dark outside, or to sound an alarm when it gets too hot. You can use embedded programming to tell the computer how to do these things.
